Bettina Pelz

Over the last twenty years, the curatorial work of Bettina Pelz (she/her) is dedicated to art-in-context projects. Her transdisciplinary projects are hosted at art institutions and in public space, in postindustrial environments and cultural heritage settings. She has been internationally involved in projects in Africa, Asia, Europe as well as in North and South America.

Since 2000, the focus of her curatorial research and practice is on light and digital media in fine arts. She has been the founding curator of several sustainable public art projects in Europe and Africa, among them LICHTROUTEN Luedenscheid.de since 2002, GLOW Eindhoven.nl from 2006 to 2009, NARRACJE Gdansk (pl) from 2009 to 2011, INTERFERENCE Tunis (tn) since 2016 and RESPONSIVE Halifax (ca) in 2017. In 2021, she premiered with LICHTSTROM in Ingolstadt (de), in 2022 the new project is GOLDSTUECKE Gelsenkirchen (de).

As an academic teacher, she is based at the University of Arts in Bremen since 2004 with a focus on professionalizing the arts. Since 2010, she has been lecturing at academies and universities throughout Europe on light and digital media in fine arts. From 2015 to 2017, she was visiting professor at the University of Fine Arts Saarbrucken.de. Since 2019, she is directing the international study program on art-in-context the TASAWAR CURATORIAL STUDIOS. hosted by GOETHE-INSTITUT in Tunis.
Her studio is located in Wetter/Ruhr (de).
